In 2003 the UM-Pleven joined this project developed in the framework of "Leonardo da Vinci" Programme by the non-profit organization Association "Care for Health" - Bourgas. The activity of the Association is completely in the sphere of health care and is pointed toward improvement of its quality through informing and qualifying of health specialists.
      In 2002 the Association realized the project MEDOPRACTICE2002 (№ BG/02/A/F/PL-132013) under the "Mobility" measure of "Leonardo da Vinci" Programme.

      "Doctor's practice in the European Union" MEDOPRACTICE2003) is a natural continuation of the activities of MEDOPRACTICE2002, aiming at the practical training of students, graduating "Medicine" in the Bulgarian medical universities.
      The main objective of the project is the practical training through exercise on the working place, founded on the good theoretical preparation, modern equipment and the use of informational and communication technologies. The motivation of the users will assist the development of new approaches to life-long learning, based on new echnologies, which is a highly specific factor for the successful professional development of doctors. The contacts created during the practice become the foundation for the development of a flexible and adaptive approach to understanding the value of learning, including on the work place. MEDOPRACITCE2003 is the second project on the practice of medical students in Germany. The summarized information from the two project will be used for the development of procedures for the certification of the practice, with the aim of attaining an identification, evaluation and recognition of diplomas, qualifications and competences.

      The sending organization Association "Care for Health" executed the selection of candidates together with the four medical universities in the towns of Varna, Pleven, Plovdiv and Sofia. The accepting organization was Krankenhaus Dresden- Friedrichstadt (Germany), a partner that has proved its competence and effectiveness in MEDOPRACTICE2002.

      The project's duration encompassed an 11 months period in 2003 and 2004. The duration of the practice was 15 weeks for the first stream and 15 weeks for the second.

SELECTION

Criteria:
Legitimacy of the candidates: Bulgarian citizens; enrolled students in Medicine, last semestrial year or semestrally graduated - in the process of conducting a state practice in the medical universities of Varna, Pleven, Plovdiv and Sofia.
Quality: average grades from the period of study, CV, written motivation of the candidate, recommendations from lecturers.
